more isn’t always better

Case in point: People tend to want to go all out for a wedding cake. Fondant, 44567 tiers, tons of layers, wild flavors, lots of detail, lots of flowers = gaudy, expensive and probably tastes like poo. In my opinion, a simple wedding cake with fresh or sugar flowers “takes the cake” (no pun intended). And I’m sure it is cheaper too!

hello

first cake on table

If you haven’t noticed already, I do cakes. I work in the financial industry over 40 hours a week and need some kind of creative release. My interest in caking developed when I was younger and loved to make cupcakes. I made my first tiered cake for my 20th birthday party and made several birthday and graduation cakes thereafter. Here is my first wedding cake that I did about a month ago for my best friend.

I prefer simple cakes. One, because they are easier to do, two because they are budget-friendly, and three, because they are just more elegant.
